This is a piece from a recent class in watercolor, learning the vibrancy that watercolor can exhibit. We got to experiment with the differences in leaving the white of the page versus highlights with Titanium White. Really got into this one because my dad has always admired sunsets, and reminded us "you'll never see another like it."

While participating in a Plein air event in Louisiana I came across this marsh. It?s actually a crawfish farm. The afternoon sky was reflecting on the water and I knew I had to try and capture it before too late. It was quite a remarkable scene.

I am learning to be more loose with my watercolor painting. I am also working on my confidence! I think everyone can relate to that first burst of anxiety when putting paint to paper! But this time, I just went for it, held my brush loosely, and let the paint do its thing. I gave up control and it turned out pretty great! This isn't my most "professional" looking work, but it was the mindset that mattered most!

This is my watercolour painting of Sugar Plums. I used a photo by Yevgeniya Shal I found on Pinterest, and I liked the wooden board and the variety of colours in the plums. I have started tutoring watercolour at Logan West Community Art Share Alliance at Hillcrest and was looking for some interesting ideas for the classes.I like to use the layering technique of laying colours over dried colours, to create depth and texture. I tend to be quite heavy with the colour, compared to some other wat

Title or Location: Old Railway Bridge between Pill and Portishead (Marsh Lane Bridge)
The line between Portishead and Pill was closed in the 1960s but the track remained because for 20 years or so it was used for freight. Although there was hope of reopening it the new labour government cancelled the funding.Alongside the track is a footpath linking Pill and Portishead. It takes a bit longer to walk than it would have by train!I painted this after my walk - I felt there was hope here that in the future trains again would grace the rusting track.

The canoe is painted on Arches 140 in my 6 x 10 Journal. The photo is from a friend. I really enjoyed working with these colors and practicing reflections, shadows and calm water. I was thinking of my grandson who loves to fish as I painted, and his favorite color is green. I used Andrews Turquoise, Hansa Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Indigo, Perm Alizarin. Fun subject.
