This meetup goes over some basic dos and don'ts for posing and looks at issues to do with shooting in daylight for the best results. Included are: shooting different body types, men, women and shooting with strong sunlight and shooting in shade, and designing your background (composition). On this meet,up you are encouraged to bring along family or friends as models.

You will preferably need a normal, 85mm or longer lens, or a zoom. If you have a wide-angle this can also be used as we will be also looking at environmental portraits.

Come along to our meetups to improve your art in a relaxed and social atmosphere and under the guidance of a professional instructor. Complete beginners to experienced artists all welcome.

Our 2 hour meetups are held in a different location each time, usually outdoors.

Bring your own materials which can be anything from pencils or pastels, to watercolour or oils.

If you are a complete beginner all you need to start are a couple of good drawing pencils, a rubber, and a drawing pad.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. The instructor is there to help everyone.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

I do a lot of Urban Sketching and Travel Journal art after having retired from architecture after 42 years. Since I love all aspects of watercolors it was time to play around with florals to see what I could learn. I'm no botanist and don't know plant types very well but I attempted to use a looser style to capture shapes that reflect the colors, shales, highlights, and darks that happen in floral views. The building was originally contracted by European craftsmen in the late 1800's as an exclusive Hotel, by industrialist and developer Henry Flaglar. The building boasts many gorgeous stained glass windows created by Louis Comfort Tiffany. The original this painting is an 11 by 15 and prints are available on various materials.
